Unlocking Excellence: A Guide to MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification

Introduction

The MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification is a transformative initiative aimed at promoting Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) practices among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This certification program seeks to encourage MSMEs to manufacture quality products using cutting-edge technology and tools while constantly upgrading their processes for enhanced productivity with minimal environmental impact.

Objectives

  1. Quality Production: Encourage and enable MSMEs to adopt ZED practices for the manufacturing of high-quality products using the latest technology.
  2. Ecosystem Development: Develop an ecosystem for ZED manufacturing in MSMEs, enhancing competitiveness and enabling exports.
  3. Recognition: Promote the adoption of ZED practices and recognize the efforts of successful MSMEs.
  4. Incentives for Growth: Encourage MSMEs to achieve higher ZED Certification levels through graded incentives.
  5. Public Awareness: Increase public awareness regarding the demand for Zero Defect and Zero Effect products through the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification.
  6. Policy Support: Identify areas for improvement, assisting the government in policy decisions and investment prioritization.

Nature of Assistance

Cost of Certification

  • Certification Level 1 (BRONZE): Rs. 10,000/-
  • Certification Level 2 (SILVER): Rs. 40,000/-
  • Certification Level 3 (GOLD): Rs. 90,000/-

Subsidies on Certification Cost

  • Joining Reward of Rs. 10,000/- (Bronze will become free if availed)
  • 80-60-50% subsidy for Bronze, Silver, and Gold ZED certified MSMEs.

Additional Subsidies

  • 10% for Women/SC/ST owned MSMEs OR MSMEs in NER/Himalayan/LWE/Island territories/aspirational districts.
  • 5% for MSMEs in SFURTI or part of Micro & Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP).

Financial Assistance in Testing/Quality/Product Certification

  • Up to 75% of the total cost of Testing/Certification, with a maximum subsidy ceiling of Rs. 50,000/-

Handholding /Consultancy Support

  • Up to Rs. 2 lakh for handholding /consultancy to achieve the next Certification Level.

Support in Technology Upgradation

  • Up to Rs. 3 lakhs for moving towards zero-effect solutions, pollution control measures, and cleaner technology.

MSME KAWACH (COVID-19 Preparedness) Certification

  • MSMEs, after taking the ZED Pledge, can self-certify their preparedness on Covid-19 risk.

Graded Incentives

  • MSMEs can avail graded incentives as per the three ZED Certification Levels. State-provided incentives will be linked through API integration with the ZED portal.

Eligibility and Application Process

  • All MSMEs registered with the UDYAM registration portal (of the MoMSME) are eligible to participate in MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification and avail related benefits/incentives.
