Bastar and Sarguja to Witness Major Tourism

Jagdalpur: In a landmark meeting chaired by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Chitrakote, the Bastar Tribal Development Authority has announced a series of significant initiatives to boost tourism and regional development.

Key decisions include the creation of a Tourism Corridor to promote Bastar’s picturesque destinations, alongside plans to enhance identified tourism sites with a strategic framework for development. Special attention was also given to integrating innovative solutions like launching the “Solar Samadhan” initiative and the “Manno Bastar App,” aimed at enhancing rural energy access and regional connectivity. Additionally, solar-powered power banks were inaugurated to cater to remote regions.

UN Recognition for Dhurmaras Village
A notable highlight was the recognition of Dhurmaras village in the Kanger Valley National Park by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). It has been listed as one of the best tourism villages globally, bringing international acclaim to Chhattisgarh.

Healthcare and Infrastructure Developments
The meeting discussed establishing a super-specialty hospital in Bastar by NMDC to address critical healthcare needs. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to expedite work on the Keshkal Ghat improvement project and complete infrastructure initiatives like “Devgudis” and “Mata Gudis” within strict deadlines.

Targeting Maoist Insurgency
Highlighting efforts against Maoist insurgency, CM Sai praised the progress in containing extremist activities to smaller regions and reiterated the commitment to restoring peace and strengthening democratic roots in Bastar. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive to eradicate Maoist extremism by March 2026 was also reaffirmed.

Sarguja’s Parallel Development
The focus extends beyond Bastar, as plans for infrastructure and tourism growth in Sarguja were also outlined. Both regions are set to benefit from substantial investments, ensuring sustained growth and tribal welfare through the Bastar and Sarguja Development Authorities.

These initiatives underscore Chhattisgarh’s commitment to becoming a tourism and cultural hub while fostering holistic regional development.
